Meet Audit Logs in Nebius AI Cloud

Audit Logs is a new feature, now available in preview in Nebius AI Cloud. With Audit Logs, our customers can improve their accountability, security and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

What is audit logging and why does it matter?

Audit logging is the process of documenting events that happen within the cloud environment or another software system for compliance purposes and other business policy enforcement. Compared to regular system logs, audit logs are focused on detecting security-related issues such as non-authorized access, rather than performance-related and service utilization metrics.

A chronological series of these audit logs is called an audit trail. System administrators and security specialists use audit trails to track user activity, investigate roots and causes of incidents and detect security breaches. This makes the existing system environment more transparent and accountable, proactively preventing malicious behavior, decreasing time for troubleshooting, resolving potential disputes and protecting organizations and users from false claims.

Audit Logs in Nebius AI Cloud

By developing Audit Logs, we’re pursuing the idea of creating transparent and manageable cloud environments for everyone. Since the primary focus of many AI development teams today is on delivering outstanding results by leveraging ML models, any compliance and security requirements create a ton of frustration. But when companies start transitioning from early-stage startups to mature enterprises, these issues become more and more meaningful for their long-term success.

Having Audit Logs natively incorporated in Nebius AI Cloud eliminates the need for installing third-party applications for audit logging, bringing transparency and observability to your system. You can easily monitor transactions across your cloud services within a tenant and collect necessary evidence, to have on hand in case of a dispute.

Access to Audit Logs

The system starts collecting Audit Logs automatically, from the moment you create a tenant. To access the service, navigate to the Audit Logs section in the left menu of the console (or use our API — you can learn more in the documentation).

Please be aware that only users with the admin role can view Audit Logs.

You can filter events by applying a detailed time range, resource ID, event type, subject name or subject ID. You also can search events across JSONs — each event has detailed information in this format.

What’s next

Today, Audit Logs in Nebius AI Cloud are in preview. This service is available free of charge for every tenant on the platform — no need to install or configure it for your cloud environment. Audit Logs will make your cloud experience more transparent and convenient to administrate.

Being in preview means that this service is intended for the test environment and for work with non-critical tasks in the production environment. During this preview period, we’re happy to receive your feedback about the quality and usability of Audit Logs, so that we can carefully polish the service functionality before the public release.
