Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is an efficient and secure solution for remote access and collaboration. It is a virtualization technology, available in Microsoft Windows, that allows users to connect to centralized servers (session hosts), where they can access their desktops, files, and applications. With RDS, users can work from any location, collaborate with team members in real-time, and get streamlined access to company resources.
To connect to a Remote Desktop session host, each user needs a client access license (CAL). The host requests CALs from a license server. You can use this image to deploy in Compute Cloud a virtual machine with an installed Windows Server that has a license server and CALs activated on it.
After deploying a license server, you need to configure licensing for session hosts which the users will connect to. For details, see Microsoft documentation.
The included CALs are RDS Per User CALs and are compatible with Windows Server 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2, and 2008 session hosts.
