  2. Managing instance groups
  3. Starting an instance group

Start an instance group

When an instance group is started, all its stopped instances are started. You can start a single instance for troubleshooting purposes, for example, but to enable automatic recovery and scaling, you need to start an entire group.

Warning

If an instance group is stopped by Nebius Israel because it was blocked for failure to pay, the instance group can be started again only after the block is removed.

Management console
CLI
API
  1. In the management console, open the folder with the appropriate instance group.
  2. Select Compute Cloud.
  3. In the left-hand panel, select Instance groups.
  4. In the line with the appropriate instance group, click and select Start group.
  5. In the window that opens, click Start.

If you don't have the Nebius Israel command line interface yet, install and initialize it.

The folder specified in the CLI profile is used by default. You can specify a different folder using the --folder-name or --folder-id parameter.

  1. View a description of the CLI instance group start command below:

    yc compute instance-group start --help

  2. Get a list of instance groups in the default folder:

    yc compute instance-group list
    +----------------------+-----------------------+------+
    | ID | NAME | SIZE |
    +----------------------+-----------------------+------+
    | amc65sbgfqeq******** | first-instance-group | 2 |
    +----------------------+-----------------------+------+

  3. Select the group ID or NAME (for example, first-instance-group).

  4. Start an instance group in the default folder:

    yc compute instance-group start first-instance-group

Instance Groups will begin starting instances in the group. Once all instances are started, the group status switches to ACTIVE.

You can start an instance group using the start REST API method for the InstanceGroup resource or the InstanceGroupService/Start gRPC API call.

To request the list of available instance groups, use the listInstances REST API method or the InstanceGroupService/ListInstances gRPC API call.
